Interesting:
- There comes a time when you have to admit that you need help.
- Contract negotiation is a no-mans land. Everything stops save the to-ing and fro-ing of amended documents. It runs contrary to my desire to keep going; it's quite a depressing time, weirdly.
- Got a tax rebate, which has lifted my mood and means that I can go to a gig in Coventry next week without feeling guilty about the expense and lost work time.
- Ended the week at a friend's birthday gathering. Played two games of snooker (lost 1, won 1), drank some stout, and had a jolly good time. Also, some great art by "Jess" (no more details at time of going to press), which were a treasure trove of found words. (c.f.: "Sources of Creativity: Found Words")
Writing:
- Published "When Speed is a Trap". Yes, you can move quickly on strategic planning, but only if you have the right conditions in place.
- No Ode Map post this week. I have a piece nearly ready (about the benefits of writing vs typing), but wasn't in the mood, frankly, to work further on it.
- I submitted an essay proposal on 'the future of computing' for inclusion in an upcoming book.
Music:
- For the first time in a while I cracked open Life (by XLN Audio) and loaded up the field recordings I did of the recent thunderstorms. Whilst I couldn't create a 'beat' that inspired me, I will be using some of the samples for sure.
- I also forced myself to sit with my reMarkable and crack on with some lyrics for the two songs I have in progress. I find writing lyrics really hard (compared to how I can spew out poems) - I wrote about it here: "Why Lyrics are Different".
Not much TV or music this week. Just:
- Klittens "Butter" album. I think I need to listen a few more times and let is soak in.
