Client progresses & Maddie impresses

Weeknote #56 (25 - 31 May 2026)

· Weeknote

The week seemed to end before it started. Not sure where the time went.
Not a great deal of note; here are the brief highlights.

A couple of team meetings. Things moving along with a client. I'm currently reviewing the strategy and aligning it to various GTM scenarios to ensure that we're going the right things and not burning time and money on low value activities. This is really important at the start of a business, as it's easy to get carried away with everything that we could be doing - or would like to be doing. But that's not going to pay the bills.

The process that I completed automation of last week continues to work(!) and send me Slack messages daily. Despite the fact that I've been doing this sort of thing for years and years, I still get a kick out of how marvellous it is to just wind it up and leave it to its thing. I'm still at the stage where I check up on it, but that will taper off over this week.
And (somewhat typically) now that it's in the wild, I am creating a list of improvements.

Writing:

  • Published a piece about the need to balance a founder's creativity with some pragmatism.
  • Ode Map post about Hermit Crab Writing; using unusual writing structures to get you past the blank page

Spent Friday visiting daughter and family. The weather held out; it was sunny, but not as overbearing as the previous days. Youngest grandchild is growing up fast; I need to see them all more often. Once every couple of months is not enough.

Started watching "This is not a Murder Mystery". Just watched the first two episodes so far. Liking it so far.

Listened to "Her Side" (album), by Maddie Ashman. More 'conventional' than her other micro-tonal singles, such as "Dark", which I have also been listening to this week.
