Defining procedures & Remarkably Bright Creatures

Weeknote #54 (11 - 17 May 2026)

· Weeknote

Another short week - I was away in Brighton on Thursday and Friday for a wedding - so not much to write about this week.

I had a call with a new Generalist World member (I'm a community guide), and arranged a face-to-face meeting with another new member for next week. GW activities seem to go in peaks and troughs; this week there has been a lot of activity on the GW Slack which, by its very nature, is really interesting, and I've been trying to keep up with all the conversations whilst not over-committing myself.

A client meeting to discuss funding. Things are moving slowly and it's difficult to keep things focussed on the immediate need(s). I need to don my PM / EA hat and do some reining in. It is a complicated business model (possibly even complex), and I have been drawing diagrams to help visualise everything via different lenses (operational, financial, delivery). A work in progress that I will need to spend more time on next week if I'm going to keep on top of it all.

A couple of calls with a marketer / lead generator (for me/Mantage Ltd). Definitely worth pursuing further, but I don't have the budget for it right now.

A catch-up with the [GovCamp Cymru](https://www.govcamp.cymru) senior team to move things forward. I've been a bit absent from this for a month for various reasons. Thankfully, others are more on the case, and I will be dedicating time each week from now on.

Because of the wedding, I didn't have time to publish an Ode Map post, but I've got next week's lined up.

I published an article on Cultural Debt (part of the series of articles on Organisational Debt), and an accompanying Diagnostic Tool.

I watched:

  • "Remarkably Bright Creatures". What a delight. Sally Field excellent.
  • Eurovision Song Contest. Politics aside (and I know that's neither easy nor desirable), a good bunch of songs. I thought the winning song was brilliant. I must revisit Dara's album from last year - "ADHDARA".
